History of E

EmotionologyTM is a synthesis of other research and discoveries. Originally, James R. Bettman (1979) discovered the way we process information and how memory works. Later Dr. Candace Pert added more understanding with her book "Molecules of Emotion" (1999) and this was graphically demonstrated in the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know”. Pert completed what we know to really understand what emotions are and how they are our body chemistry. NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming gives us many techniques and tools to change those emotions. “The Course In Miracles” is the basis of some of the philosophy that makes “E” coaching work.

As a knowledge base, Emotionology fits with Positive Psychology, which focuses on overcoming learned helplessness and depression, and on developing an optimistic, rather than a pessimistic, point of view.

Richard Long

richard LongIn the history of EmotionologyTM we must include philanthropist Dr Richard Long. Richard is a life-long learner, continually exploring and promoting ideas that can benefit humanity. He has a pioneering spirit and fancies himself as “Merlin at Large”.

Richard met Mary Hallgren about 10 years ago while he was managing the Reflexology Center in Lakewood, CO. He read her first book and immediately recognized the value of the philosophy and approach of Emotionology for others. Richard invited Mary to do mini workshops for the Center’s reflexology group. Through the years, Richard maintained his interest in Emotionology. In 2006 he realized that spreading the ideas of Emotionology would be a way to put his money to good use. Thus, he decided to take Emotionology under his wing for a while to get it going. Richard approached Mary and generously offered financial support with “no-strings attached”. In his role as Wagon Master, he wanted to make Emotionology available to the entire world but remain behind the scenes as “Merlin”. As its primary benefactor, Richard has influenced the formation of the Institute. He has supported Emotionology through first quarter 2006 to 2007 by buying equipment and paying expenses. Mary and the Institute gratefully acknowledge and appreciate Richard’s contributions and input.
